Talented Stylists Given The Chance To Shine

Talented stylists at North East based salon group Contemporary were given the chance to demonstrate their artistic style on location at a local hair and fashion shoot led by Contemporary’s Art Director Claire Morley.
No stranger to beginning her career on the cutting room floor, Claire always dreamed of being a hairdresser and started work at Contemporary over 6 years ago as an assistant.  Since then she has been passionate about helping young stylists climb the career ladder.
“I wanted to give our emerging young talent the opportunity to experience working on a live shoot, push the styling boundaries and produce their own collection” said Claire.
Working with Matthew Barratt, Contemporary’s Assist of the Year and Stylist Kayleigh King the shoot entitled Urban Crunk took its inspiration from the Rihanna, Disturbia music video and the overall look was dark and funky.
Shot on location at an old mineshaft at Wilton the stylists were given first hand experience of developing a mood board, selecting clothing, briefing the photographer as well as styling and cutting.
“We received tremendous support for the shoot, photographer Keith Moss, Psyche and make-up artist Lisa Taylor all helped make this happen,” said Claire.
“I am absolutely delighted with the shoot.  It demonstrates the talent we have at Contemporary, the final look was truly professional and wouldn’t be out of place in a glossy magazine,” added Claire.
